I wasn’t sure but I wanted to try it. It’s a nice alternative to using only chlorine. As advertised you can use 80% less chlorine. I use 20% of what I used to use and the pool stays clear, no algae(yet) in 5 weeks of hot sunny/ rainy weather. Grandkids swim without goggles due to low chlorine content. I do a light shock every week( one pkg of hth super shock) or 1 or 2 tabs in the chlorination each week. Much less than before I got the ionizer. So far so good. I have a 30,000 gallon 20x40 in ground pool. I use 1 Remington Sun Shock unit.

I dropped this in my pool on 8/29/2020 and added a small amount of chlorine once since then. This is 11/12/2020. That is an incredible difference from normal. I would have added shock nearly weekly. A person should probably buy an extra copper rod and swap it out and clean the other on in the meantime. It takes about 15-30 minutes to remove the corrosion off the copper rod. It is amazing to see the effect of the rod. But we’ll worth it for me. I use a drill and steel wire brush to clean the rod personally.

No chlorine has been needed which is perfect because my eldest granddaughter has always suffers with itchy skin from chlorine. I've only needed to shock the pool twice thus far. Once was because of an error I made with our sand filter. I forgot to open the output after rinsing it and for a week it was barely functioning properly. Once I fixed that issue all was right as rain again. I have yet to clean the copper anode. This is our first summer using this and I have high hopes this will keep going for years to come.

Works really well. I add maybe 2 chlorine tabs a month now. We had lots of algae before, and had to use lot of chlorine and all the random algae treatments from pool stores before. Now, don't need anything else. Pool chemistry is stable. Ph and alk are normal levels. If it rains a lot, it's a little less effective because of less solar charge. Augment with some extra chlorine or shock the pool after heavy rains as needed.

I am so frustrated with the customer service of this product. I actually bought two solar products from Remington. Not to mention that I bought the liquid to clean the core. One of them seems to be working just wonderful. The second one the core I cannot clean it. I have scraped it and I have use their special formula to clean it it works great on the first one, but the second one will not come clean. I have called Remington but got no response. I think it’s just a matter that the copper core is defective, for some reason. That is why I gave it three. One works great. One does not. With poor customer service, I was tempted to give it an even lower score.

We have used the solar chlorine free floating system now for 4 weeks and are amazed how the water is clear, no algae, and used no chlorine at all. I purchased 2 units as our pool is 24,000 gallons.
