I have been recording straight to tape using this, not even any effects, and it sounds amazing. Full, bassy sound, not the usual tinny pickup sound that happens with some pickups. Very happy with my purchase. We will see how long it lasts and what customer service is like when/if it does give out.

pickup and super clean, only minor issue is that the cork protectors are too thick on some guitars, so the strings are too close to the pickup as this scratches the pickup with your guitar picks.So you need to to bring down the pickup, remove the cork spacers and use something thinner. This is a design flaw on this pickup the top section side wings are too thick so the pickup is too close to the strings.

When I'm finished recording, I just remove the pickup and store it in it's box, and I didn't have to make any permanent changes to my guitar. Plus I can use it on my other guitar too!

I also have the active version of this pickup. This one doesn't supply quite the punch, but for a passive pickup, it is great! The balance and over-all sound are, for my purposes, pretty much perfect. Add in a compressor and a chorus pedal and this baby absolutely sings. I got tired of the cheaper pickups with foam inserts shifting and changing the balance of the guitar sound. This one is just an easy mount and you're good to go. It even works well on a 12-string. Highly recommended.
