On Christmas day it was opened and a jar that had been canned that could not be opened was brought in. The jar lid had been hit several times to loosen it but the lid would not come off. I thought this might be a quick end of a Christmas present. New batteries were put in and it was put on the jar, press and hold the button and off it went. I thought it was going to break hearing it strain so much and it was making a few sounds besides the motor whirling as it struggled to open the jar but to our amazement it did open the jar. Unbelievable what this little thing could do. I am not sure how long it will last but what I saw on its maiden voyage was incredible and for sure proof that it could in fact take off a stuck lid.

This has resulted in some serious frustration over the years with some jar lids. Recently I watched a video where this product was demonstrated, and I immediately ordered one. I had the chance to use it for the first time a few days ago and it worked perfectly. It's slow, but then I have fought with lids for longer before so it's not that big of a deal. It's also pretty noisy, but not enough to put me off using it.

I'm a single gal, mid-60s and opening jars is becoming very difficult; hurts my hands/thumbs and I can't get most jars open myself without a lot of banging the lids and swearing, LOL. This thing really works on most standard size jars; even worked with some coaxing on an over-sized square jar that the holding arms couldn't quite clear (but not really recommended). I liked it so much I ordered one for each of my single gal pals for Xmas! It is a plastic body, so avoid dropping it on hard surfaces (duh), and don't try to use it to open jars that it really doesn't fit on (outer holding arms). Read instructions so you are clear on how it works, and HOLD THE JAR at the bottom that you are trying to open so the jar doesn't go flying when the opener pops open the lid! I've only had this a couple weeks and only opened a few items so far, so can't speak to durability, but so glad I purchased this.

I thought the price was too high though, so I went on Amazon and found the exact product there for about $20 cheaper. I bought it and my wife and I just love it. It actually opens those Italian sauce big jars, the ones I have hard time opening these days due to some arthritis. It’s very easy to use. It does make a bit of noise though. That doesn’t bother us at all because it works great.

Don't expect it to work quickly, because it takes it's sweet time, but it DOES work and that's all that matters to me. You do have to place it upright (the way it sits on the jar) when you finish using it, in order for it to stop, as it is automatic. I absolutely love it! If I could think of any improvement, it would be to give a color choice so I could get red to match my kitchen :)
