I had a similar mirror that was battery operated. It was great for detail work like plucking your brows or applying eye makeup, but it never stayed bright for long. As soon as you put new batteries your get an hour or two of bright light, and then it just simmer down until it eventually drained the batteries. This lamp is so convenient. It has both a built in light and a battery pack. You can plug it in if you're staying stationary, or pop in the batteries if you want more mobility. The cord it comes with isn't very long, so I do use an extension cord so I have some extra freedom from the outlet and space to move it around. Definitely worth it!

I bought this specifically for the LED lighting and its compactness. So far I've had the mirror a week and it's been great. The lighting is very bright, and works great with the bifold sides. I guess the only things that I don't like about it is that it only comes with a USB wire and no wall outlet plug (but I've managed). The dimming feature on the LED lights is very shaky, and where the USB wire plugs into the mirror blocks the front tray. Other than those few things I think its a great mirror for the price!

The rotation of the mirror has come in clutch bc it easily adjusts to the view that is needed. I appreciate the different magnifying scales that help with precision. Only thing would be that one should note is that if you wear glasses there is a glare that makes it difficult to see. To change brightness hold the power button. It's easily foldable so you can take it with you. I also love that it seems like is has a touch screen on and off button instead of having to find a small switch somewhere on the mirror. My favorite part, though, is that it takes AAA batteries so they are easily replaceable. I've owned several light-up mirrors and I've had to throw them all away after because I couldn't find batteries or had to special order them.
