I use it to empty the 55 gallon tank when doing a water change and fill it back up from the sink. I have a 35" hose to pump out to the front yard/fill from the sink. I like the suction power. It is just right. I only use the small tool that keeps me closest to the bottom. When it gets to 2" it will siphon whether on or off but it is very tricky to keep this going but if successful will get it down to 1". The trick is to keep it in one place once it starts siphoning and not move it or breathe!
