I am only able to use the low heat setting for my shoulder length fine highlighted hair. The high is extremely hot and not needed. It really doesn't give much more wave than a slight bend to my hair. There are definitely no curls after using it. It just gives you a fuller blown out look but if you want curls you will need to add a curling iron. I really o in s it though. It's very smoothing yo the hair I don't think this would work well on shorter hair. The barrel is large.
