He doesn't wake up when I put him in it- the cushion at the bottom is adjustable to height and it means his legs are always slightly raised so he doesn't feel flat. The head hole means he doesn't get a flat head. It's also great because it fits in a suitcase so it comes with us everywhere do he has a familiar place to sleep no matter where we are.
