I wanted another way to keep my one-person tent up, if I wanted to use my walking poles for walking. With these I can use them mostly for holding the tent up, but they still seem to be good for walking use, if I need. To get them ready there is a method that is not so obvious, I hope my photo makes it clearer. I would suggest getting the pole (one at a time) assembled and then locking at a height you like (the bottom lock). then pull in the green direction. It will take some force, I would say equivalent to lifting 15 kilos. When the silver ball appears (outlined in Red in my photo) allow it to release and that will lock the other elements.

I found the printed instructions for assembly confusing and contacted the vendor, who got back to me immediately and sent a link to a video. My security software blocked that particular link but I found another link on YouTube that was very helpful and got it assembled in seconds. The vendor was there every step of the way to help. Great service. The pole is more comfortable and lighter than the collapsible pole I've been using. Very pleased with it.
