Flying is NO problem and even if your child has wide shoulders this expands easily to fit them. I have used this in 9 different auto types (NOT counting probably 10 ride sharing cars), a bus, 2 planes and one trolly. In each this was super easy to unfold and attach with belt.

This one is one of my personal favorites. Grandma hates heavy car seats and this one is very light and easy to use and the kids actually fight over who gets to sit in the "space seat" as they call it. We have car seats in all the cars so nobody has to lug any car seats or boosters around, Mom & Dad have 4 cars and I have 3, plus the other grandparents and my other daughters taking their nieces & nephew places.. and this is the only one that goes in and out of the cars because it's a favorite between all the parents, grandparents, aunts, and kids.
