After multiple arm and wrist fractures, a ruptured tendon, and 2 surgeries, I have little use of my left hand and no use of the thumb for an extended recovery period, making it impossible to grasp a jar to open the lid. I was shopping Amazon for a better can opener and saw the RoboTwist. It's a lifesaver. It works! It's slow and a bit noisy, but it gets items open every time, with no spills. I've used it for a variety of items. Most helpful to me is opening Ensure bottles, which I'm drinking as a protein supplement to promote healing; those lids are 1.5 inches in diameter. Read the instructions--hold the button down while the outer claws tighten and until the inner claws start to move; then release the button. I keep my hand lightly on the body of the Robo during the opening and until the claws retract enough to remove it. I do not touch the jar/bottle at all during the opening process; it just sits on the counter. I have used the product daily for 3 weeks.
